Kheerganga is the crown jewel of beginner treks in Himachal Pradesh. Starting from Barshaini in the enchanting Parvati Valley — famous for its deep forests, roaring rivers, and hippie villages — this trek winds through dense pine forests, past cascading waterfalls, and along the turquoise Parvati river to reach the meadow of Kheerganga at 2,950m.
The highlight is undeniable: a sacred natural hot spring where trekkers soak in warm, milky-white mineral water (the name "Kheerganga" means "river of milk") while gazing at Himalayan peaks. My first ever trek and I'm completely hooked! The forest trail was magical — and then we arrived at Kheerganga and there were these beautiful hot springs. I sat in warm water looking at snowcapped peaks. I literally cried from happiness. 10/10 for beginners!
Booked for our college group trip. The trail through Parvati Valley is unlike anything I've seen — dense forest, crystal river, and then BOOM you're at a warm hot spring under the stars. The bonfire night was unreal. Best trip of our college life. Will be back!
Absolutely! This is one of the BEST treks for first-timers in India. It's rated Easy — a 12km one-way trek with gradual ascent over 2 days. Children (8+), senior citizens (60–65 years if reasonably fit), and anyone with basic walking fitness can do this trek.
The hot spring is a natural, sacred pool of warm mineral water (around 37–40°C). It's divided into sections for men and women. The water is milky-white (hence "Kheerganga" — river of milk) and rich in minerals. Locals believe it has healing properties. You can soak for free!
Apr–Jun: Beautiful spring flowers, cold weather. Jul–Aug: Monsoon — lush green but wet trails. Sep–Nov: Best season — clear skies, dry trails, stunning autumn colors. The trek is closed Dec–Mar due to heavy snow.
From Delhi (520km): HRTC overnight buses to Bhuntar, then local taxi/bus to Kasol (~2 hrs). Or Delhi–Chandigarh by train, then bus to Kasol. Closest airport: Bhuntar (Kullu), 30km from Kasol. We can arrange airport pickup for groups.
Yes! There are basic guesthouses and cafes at Kheerganga with very basic dorm beds (₹200–400/night). However, our package includes quality camping tents which provide a better experience. The stars from the meadow are priceless — camping is highly recommended.
